When I walked into class this morning I didn’t know I would
have so much fun. Actually, today may have been the most fun I have had in my
college education to date. Playing the jeopardy game this week was a good
experience for me. It was both educational and fun. My competitive nature made
me search hard and efficiently for questions. I believe everyone had fun
playing the game, the sound of pages flipping and people running up to put
answers on the board had everyone on the edge of their seats. I enjoyed conversing with my fellow team mates
as we tried to pick the right answers. I was happy that I actually built my own
game because it familiarized me with some of the questions. Granted, the
purpose of the game was to prepare us for the midterm exam, but winning was
everyone’s main objective. “You play to win the game!” (Herm Edwards), and
everyone did just that. Some won big, others didn’t at all, but at the end of
the day everyone was more knowledgeable about the definitions. I know I was!
The stakes were high also! Of course some played it safe, while others betted
big. As for me, I went all in and I have bonus points on my midterm exam to
prove it! Today’s experience reminded of me of kindergarten where we would play
games to learn shapes and arithmetic. Who knew that years later I would be
doing the same the same thing in higher education? Today’s endeavor was proof
that learning can be fun even in college! I am actually kind of happy, my professor, Mr.
Pinto came up with this idea to prepare us. Needless to say, the game fulfilled
its purpose. I have no doubt that I will be ready for the midterm.

Week 2 EOC: Erin Brokovich
Erin Brockovich scored a lump sum of money for finding out
information on a job she was hardly qualified for. Also, she manipulated people
into giving her access to information that others were denied access to. This
was not the correct way to go about things. Erin and Ed Malry's law firm
tackled a multi-billion dollar corporation, "After nearly four years in arbitration, the Hinkley case was settled behind closed doors for $333 million - the largest direct-action lawsuit in U.S. history." It would
seem as if true justice was served for the people of Hinkley. However, the law
firm acquired 40% of that $333 million. The question lingers, was justice
really served for the people in the small town of Hinkley ? Some might say, “Why
complain? The people got money.” I say, maybe the people could’ve gotten more
money. Perhaps, some of the 2.5 million Erin received for a job she was not for
qualified for could’ve been used for the people of Hinkley. However, I must
admire Erin’s drive and dedication to exposing the truth. "Erin’s persistence paid off, and in 1993, 634 Hinkley residents hired Masry & Vititoe to sue PG&E."
The law
firm also hired on Erin’s lover as the stay at home nanny for her children.
This freed her up to be able to pursue the case as aggressively as she did.
However, I find that odd that a law firm would take pay for the personal
aspects of Erin’s life. Then again, Erin Brockovich was one of a kind. It all
started with a car accident. Her ambition earned a paycheck that covered her
car accident and some. Was her misuse of
sex appeal right? No, but it is the lesser of two evils since the residents of
Hinkley got money they deserved for the problems caused by PG&E. Her story
is one that inspires and it turned into a film with a star studded cast." Santos-Shamberg envisioned the movie version of Erin’s life as 'Rocky' in a mini-skirt, and in 1995, Jersey Films paid Erin $30,000 for her life rights. When completed, the screenplay was immediately sent to noted director
Steven Soderbergh. Soon, Julia Roberts signed on to portray Erin, and
the movie got the green light. But this wasn’t the only good news that
would catch 37-year-old Erin by surprise. She also found out she had
earned a $2.5 million bonus from the Hinkley case."

Week 1 EOC
Music is my passion, along with
everything that has to do with bringing music to life for an audience. I
picture the process of making music as a blank canvas. When a song is finished,
the same blank canvas becomes a work of art. That piece of art is put on
display with the potential to inspire and start revolutions. I am an artist and
I do not take power of music lightly. It takes a commitment to excellence and a
creative thought process to make quality music. Both of these are qualities that I possess.
Every element in making a song is equally
important. When one process is finished it is a stroke on the canvas. As a
musician (pianist) and a lyricist, I have the ability to view a canvas from
multiple angles. This allows me create music and words that complement each
other. I am always looking to soak up knowledge and techniques that I can
involve and execute in my music, which requires me to learn quickly. My passion for making
good music allows me to be dedicated to my art. I have what it takes to be
successful in making music. I will only grow as an artist, which in turn, will warrant
me to produce better art.
